About
Emma Mulholland on Holiday is the second major fashion project for Mulholland, who kicked off her career with an eponymous label back in 2013. Keen for a change of pace in the fashion world, she started EM on Holiday in 2017 and the label’s laidback but fun slogan tees, hoodies, hats, scrunchies, patterned pants and cute accessories are coveted and collected the world over.
Emma Mulholland on Holiday carefully selects and works with manufacturers to ensure all workers are treated respectfully and are paid a living wage. EM on Holiday follows the principles set out in the ETI Base Code, founded on the conventions of the International Labour Organisation.
Originally only manufactured in a family run business in Bali, as the brand has grown EM on Holiday has expanded to certified manufacturers in China and India. We have continued to seek a level of confidence in knowing who is making each collection. This requires an ongoing assessment and evaluation of fair working conditions to ensure the required standards are met. EM on Holiday is on a journey towards understanding the depth of complexities surrounding supply chain, and the barriers around full transparency.
The EM on Holiday Pyjama pieces are crafted in 100% Linen, a fabric that is strong, naturally moth resistant, requires less water to produce and is made from flax plant fibres - making it an extremely earth friendly material.
EM on Holiday Jersey, Sweats & Knit Collections are made in China. Each EM on Holiday Knit has been knitted to size which means there is a lot less waste compared to a regular cut and sew garment, being a capsule collection these pieces have also been made in a much lower quantity, reducing our carbon footprint. Our sweats capsule collection is crafted in 100% cotton anti-pill material, making it a lasting staple in your wardrobe.
Our EM on Holiday Denim is made in Turkey, using 100% Organic Cotton Indigo wash, made using low impact materials and production techniques. We have set out to design pieces that will join your wardrobe for the long run and tread lightly on the environment, before and after purchase. Read more about our denim here.
EM on Holiday is dedicated to practising sustainable modes of production in each step of the process starting from design all the way to delivering to the customer. By designing and manufacturing good quality, classic pieces, we aim to make pieces that customer's will treasure and have with them for seasons to come. EM on Holiday works with classic cuts that have been tried and tested since the beginning of our journey and reimagines them in new prints for future collections
Through the manufacturing process EM on Holiday aims to minimise waste by using every piece of fabric possible and turning them into smaller items such as scrunchies, face masks and stuffed toys.
In order to minimise over production and dead stock, EM on Holiday has introduced Pre Orders for popular items. Through the Pre Orders we are able to produce the right amount of stock for customer's and use this information for future collection.
Our Sydney based team is able to oversee the manufacturing process and make sure every step of the process is meeting EM on Holiday’s ethos and quality controls. We encourage our customers to shop responsibly and purchase outside of trends to curate a slow fashion wardrobe that is wearable and long lasting. By not overproducing we avoid engaging in heavy discounting periods, and stay true to our sustainable fashion ethos.
We always strive to make our pieces as high quality as possible so you will love and wear them for years to come, our small team takes care with the design and oversees the manufacturing of every garment we produce. We always value feedback and are constantly changing and adapting to match our customer needs and reduce our impact.
